Dr. Michael Prewett
Dr. Michael Prewett was born and raised in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Starting out as a toddler ‘helping out’ on his family’s farm, Dr. Prewett gained a love for animals at an early age. That love led him to pursue an Associate degree from Carl Albert State College and then his Bachelors in Animal Science and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University in 2001. Dr. Prewett started his veterinary career as a mixed animal Veterinarian at Northside Animal Hospital in Stillwell and joined the team at Rogers Avenue Animal Clinic as an Associate Veterinarian in 2006. In 2007, Dr. Prewett became a managing partner of RAAC while pursing his dream of opening a state of the art Veterinary practice. Dr. Prewett, along with his wife, opened the doors of Massard Creek Animal Hospital on January 2nd, 2023.
Dr. Prewett is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association and the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association. He is passionate about growing his knowledge in the Veterinary field through Continuing Education Seminars and has a wide circle of connections for collaboration. In his free time Dr. Prewett enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Melanie Prewett, and his three boys while enjoying the outdoors and OSU Football. Dr. Prewett has a bevy of animals including: Maddie, a GSP that is the ‘Old Lady’ of the family, Boone, a GSP, Mando, a Yellow Labrador Retriever that is the the ‘baby of the family’, as well as a herd of cattle and miscellaneous wild birds. Fun fact: Dr. Michael Prewett obtained his pilot’s license at a young age and for many years enjoyed the freedom of flying.
Dr. Melanie Prewett
Dr. Melanie Prewett was born and raised in Vernon, New Jersey. She was an avid dancer and was the child who brought home every stray. She had a love of animals from a young age and enjoyed joining her Mom for every veterinary visit they had. Dr. Prewett attended Wilkes University and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. She was accepted into the veterinary program at Oklahoma State University where she graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Dr. Prewett is a founding member of the River Valley Veterinary Medical Association as well as a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association, and Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association. She is also a board member for the Fort Smith Animal Emergency Clinic and a volunteer for Sequoyah Animal Advocates. Dr. Prewett is often seen in local schools sharing her love of veterinary medicine with students through interactive learning.
Dr. Prewett joined our team in 2003 and is our clinic’s go to Veterinarian for all things cytology. In her free time, Dr. Prewett enjoys yoga, dance, pickleball and watching her boys play sports. She and her husband, Dr. Michael Prewett, have spent many years planning and preparing for the opening of Massard Creek Animal Hospital and have been immersing themselves in offering the most top-notch medicine available. Dr. Prewett is the proud owner of: Scout, a German Shepherd Mix, Woody, an Australian Cattle Dog, and Amber and Mercy, their rambunctious kitties. Fun fact: Dr. Melanie Prewett was Miss New Jersey 1996-1997 and competed in the 1996 Miss America Pageant.
Dr. Abigail Hanna
Dr. Abigail Hanna was born and raised in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Finding a combined interest in medicine and animals, she decided to pursue a career in the veterinary field. After graduating from Sallisaw High School she attended Carl Albert State College as a Scholar Program Student while obtaining her Associate Degree in Science as well as working as a Veterinary Assistant during her school breaks. Upon completing one year of undergrad, Dr. Hanna went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University. Dr. Hanna is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association, Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association and the River Valley Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Hanna joined our team in 2021 and has brought with her a wealth of knowledge and drive to learn. Dr. Hanna loves to spend her free time playing slow pitch women’s and co-ed softball or on the lake with her family. She is joined in her home by a bevy of pets: Ava, an Australian Shepherd, Asher, a large Lab Mix, Ares, a black cat, Agatha and Athena, both Ball Pythons, and Artemis, a bearded dragon. Fun Fact: All of Dr. Hanna’s pets have favorite colors and all of their belongings are coordinated with their color (Ava’s favorite color is pink!).
